4G LTE Cat 4 2K + night vision 8W solar / 8000mAh IP66 App: O-KAM Pro

Nothing matches that search. Try a shorter word.

Getting started

Three things and you are running: download the app, put an activated SIM in the camera, scan the QR code. Mounting comes after.

What’s in the box

  • 1x Hawk camera
  • 1x Solar panel
  • 1x USB cable, connects the solar panel to the camera
  • 1x Wall mount for the solar panel
  • 2x Mounting hardware kit
  • 1x User manual

Keep the box and accessories in case the camera ever needs to go back. If anything is missing, contact whoever you bought it from.

You need your own activated 4G SIM. The Hawk works on Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. A TF card is optional but recommended, since without one you are relying entirely on cloud storage.

Before you drill anything

Pair the camera to the app and confirm it connects before you mount it. Far easier to troubleshoot a SIM or signal problem with the camera on a workbench than on a ladder.

Setup & pairing

The Hawk is managed entirely through the O-KAM Pro app. There is no web console and no browser login.

1. Download the app and register

  1. Search for O-KAM Pro on the App Store or Google Play and install it.
  2. Open the app and tap Register now.
  3. Choose your region and enter your email address to finish creating the account.
Pick the right region. It determines which servers your footage lives on and it is not something you can casually change later.

2. Insert your SIM

  1. Unscrew the two small screws on the bottom of the camera module and lift off the panel. This exposes the SIM and TF card slots.
  2. Insert your activated carrier SIM into the SIM slot.
  3. If you are using a TF card, insert it into the TF slot now. Up to 256 GB is supported.
The two slots are different sizes and are not interchangeable. Do not force a SIM into the TF slot or a TF card into the SIM slot.

3. Pair the camera

  1. Open O-KAM Pro and tap the + at the top right of the Homepage.
  2. Choose 4G camera, then scan the QR code on the camera body.
  3. Wait while the camera connects. This takes one to two minutes. Do not close the app or interrupt it.
  4. Give the camera a name. Front door, yard, office, whatever helps you tell them apart later.
  5. Tap Get started.

4. Share access (optional)

  1. Select the camera on the app Homepage.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right.
  3. Tap Share and enter the account you want to give access to.

The Hawk supports up to four viewers at the same time.

Installation

Two mounts to place: the camera and the solar panel. The panel is the one that needs thinking about.

Tools you will need

  • Drill and drill bits
  • Impact driver with Phillips and flathead bits
  • Socket adapter and socket set, imperial and metric
  • 4x screws, metal or concrete depending on your surface
  • 4x screw anchors, if needed
  • Self-tapping screws
  • Lexel sealant
  • Cable clips and zip ties
  • I-beam level

Mounting the camera

  1. Hold the camera template plate where you want the camera. Mark and drill pilot holes if needed, and insert anchors.
  2. Place the Hawk against the surface and secure it with the provided screws. Use the level to get it straight.

Mounting the solar panel

  1. Find an open spot that gets direct sun for as much of the day as possible.
  2. Hold the template plate against the surface, mark the mounting hole positions, and drill pilot holes.
  3. Attach the solar panel wall mount using the screws from the hardware kit.
  4. Secure the panel to the mount and angle it to roughly 45 degrees facing the sun.
  5. Connect the panel to the camera with the included USB cable.
  6. Tidy the cable run with cable clips and zip ties.

A finished install: camera and panel on the same wall, cable run clipped down.
In the northern hemisphere the panel should face south. An east or west facing panel gets roughly half the daily sun and the battery may not keep up in winter. Watch for shade from trees, signage, and roof overhangs at different times of day, not just when you happen to be installing.
The Hawk is rated IP66, which covers rain and dust. Seal around the mounting holes with Lexel anyway. Water getting behind a mount into a wall cavity is not a camera problem, it is a building problem.

Where your footage lives

Cloud playback

Motion events from the last three days, free. Watch, delete, download, or share them. Anything you do not save manually is deleted after three days. A paid plan extends this to 30.

TF card

The last two days of continuous footage, stored on the card in the camera. No subscription, but capped by card size and only accessible while the camera is online.

Cloud captures events, the card captures everything. Use both if the location matters.

Messages

Every detection alert the camera has recorded. Watch clips, filter by detection type and date, and delete recordings you no longer want.

Mine

Your saved photos and videos, account settings, and app preferences.

How do I…

The things people ask most.

Set recording quality

By default, events saved to the cloud use whatever quality you have set in the live player, which is HD. To change what gets written to the TF card:

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right of the video player.
  3. Tap TF Record Settings.
  4. Tap Recording time and pick a quality: SD = 720p HD = 1080p Super HD = 1440p
Higher quality fills the card faster and uses more battery. On a solar camera in a low-sun location, HD is usually the right balance.

Turn on motion detection

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap More under the video player, then Motion Detection.
  3. Turn on the slider.
  4. From the same page, set detection distance, frequency, and whether detections record to the cloud.

Set an activity zone

An activity zone limits where in the frame the camera watches for motion. Anything outside it is ignored. This is the fix for a camera that keeps alerting on a road or a neighbor’s driveway.

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap More under the video player, then Activity Zone.
  3. Use the Smear tool to paint over the parts of the frame you want ignored.
  4. Use the Eraser to uncover anything you painted by mistake.
  5. Tap Save at the top right.
This works backwards from what most people expect. The blue areas are excluded from detection, not included.

Talk through the camera

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the microphone icon labeled Intercom.
  3. Speak into your phone. It comes out of the camera speaker.

Set preset positions and automatic panning

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the PTZ icon.
  3. Choose Vertical Cruise to pan up and down, Horizontal Cruise to pan side to side, or Pre-position Cruise to cycle between saved positions.
  4. For pre-position cruise, aim the camera where you want it and tap the box with a + under Pre-position. You can save up to five.

Turn on the alarm

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right to open System settings.
  3. Tap Notification Settings, then Camera Siren.
  4. Turn on Alarm sound switch.
  5. Choose a preset message or alarm sound, or record your own to play when motion is detected.

Manage battery mode

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right to open System settings.
  3. Tap Working Mode to set the power saving mode and choose which events wake the camera.
If the battery keeps running down, this is the first place to look, followed by the solar panel angle and any shade falling across it.

Turn on person tracking

Person tracking pans the camera to follow someone in frame. Human frame draws a red outline around detected people.

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap More under the video player.
  3. Tap Person tracking, Human frame, or both.

Save a recorded event

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap Cloud playback at the bottom of the screen to see the last three days of motion events.
  3. Select the recording and tap the circle with the downward arrow to download it to your phone.
Cloud events are deleted after three days on the free plan. If something happens that matters, download it that day.

Save footage from the TF card

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap TF Card at the bottom right. This holds the last two days of continuous footage.
  3. Tap the circle with the downward arrow under the video player.
  4. Choose the time range you want, tap Save, then Yes.

Change the SIM or TF card

  1. Unscrew the two small screws on the bottom of the camera module and remove the plastic panel.
  2. Remove the existing card if there is one.
  3. Insert the new SIM into the SIM slot, or the TF card into the TF slot. The slots are not interchangeable.

Restart the camera

  1. Open the Homepage and select your camera.
  2. Tap the gear icon at the top right to open System settings.
  3. Tap Device Settings.
  4. Tap Restart Device, then Confirm.
